The gel like substance is the cytoplasm, which is filled between the cell membrane and the nucleus. The cytoplasm have the cell organelles embedded in scattered form. All the cellular reactions occur in the cytoplasm. The cytoplasm provide the basis and the suitable environment for the cellular reactions.
