Well, I feel the answer is adaption because when the fur colour changes to white during the winter, It helps it move around without being easily spotted by both predator and prey.
The answer can not be competition because the turning of fur to white during the winter does not give it selective advantage over any animal that competes with it for resources which is a major feature of competition.
